You look in the mirror and wonder “What in the world happened?”.  You’ve changed nothing in your diet, yet you feel flabby and have gained weight.  You have “power surges” AKA hot flushes that are at best embarrassing and at most debilitating.  Welcome to Menopause.  Menopause is technically only ONE day: the day that you have not had a menstrual cycle in a full year.  The multiple years of “the change” prior to that date is called perimenopause and after post-menopause.  And of course, every woman’s experience is different.  Sad to say that being post-menopause doesn’t mean you are without these “wonderful” (note the sarcasm) symptoms.  Just ask women who have been tossed in the deep end of menopause because of surgery.  While the process is “normal” (whatever that means), there are lots of things you can do to help yourself and to hopefully decrease these symptoms.  In this three-part series we will tackle what is happening, nutritional strategies to help reduce symptoms and best ways to incorporate exercise to offset what is happening in your body.  Stay tuned for Part 1:
